Three years ago, 21 brave youth climate leaders filed a suit against the federal government for depriving them of their right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness by knowingly creating an energy system that is dependent on fossil fuels and causes an unstable climate. On Monday, October 29th, after years of shuffling and delay, the case goes to trial. All around the country, groups are gathering in solidarity at the federal courthouses to show our support for the brave work of these youth activists. We will gather with partners at the Moakley Federal Courthouse in Boston.
Please, join us on Monday, October 29, from 11:30-1pm. Wear your t-shirt. Bring a sign that says that you understand that climate can't wait, a picture of the children in your life, or a picture of one of the plaintiffs. The hashtag for this event is #YouthVGov.
From the organizers:
"They will demand a science-based National Climate Recovery Plan––a plan that would end the reign of fossil fuels and lead to swift decarbonization."
Visit Our Children's Trust website which explains more about the lawsuit and the steps already taken.
