Federal Safety Hearing on the Weymouth Compressor Station
The federal Pipelines and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration is coming to Weymouth on June 17th, and the mothers will be there to meet them!
The frontline communities of the Fore River Basin have made consistent efforts to voice their concerns about safety. Compressor stations leak, compressor stations explode! Because the frontline communities demanded it, US Congressman Steven Lynch has arranged for this safety listening session on the Weymouth compressor station to take place. This comes at a time when the air quality permit appeal hearings for the compressor station have shown that Governor Baker's DEP deliberately withheld over 759 pages of evidence on existing toxins in the community. The DEP hasn't made a decision on whether the permit stands or not, and we must make our voices heard every chance we get.
Join us in a rally outside with FRRACS and our allies at 5:30pm, then join us inside at 6pm to hear testimony from members of the frontline community, doctors, mothers and other allies on how this compressor station would impact the health and safety of these communities. Let's keep the pressure on #GovernorGas Baker to stop the compressor station while we still have time, get lots of media attention, and make sure our mothers' voices are heard to defend children.
Shirt up and show up!
