Community Meeting for HIA of Weymouth Compressor Station
MOMS NEEDED!
LET’S SHOW UP TO STOP THE WEYMOUTH GAS COMPRESSOR STATION!
Community Meeting on the Health Impact Assessment for the Proposed Gas Compressor Station in Weymouth
WHEN: Thursday, November 15:
- 6-7 pm - Stand-in outside the high school (Signs will be provided)
- 7-9:15 pm Meeting
WHERE: Quincy High School, 100 Coddington Street, near the Quincy Center stop on the Red Line
WHY?
The Health Impact Assessment that has been done did not follow standard methodology and is inadequate. Even so, it shows elevated levels of various air pollutants in the already heavily industrialized Fore River Basin area.
A real assessment should be done, and once it is, we believe it will be clear that the air permit for this project should be denied.
The station would be harmful to the health of our neighbors in the Fore River Basin, who are already overburdened with industrial toxins. And it would be bad for the climate! We don’t need new gas infrastructure, and this station would be the linchpin to export fracked gas from the Marcellus Shale via a northern route.
