Build A Better Brookline - Affordable Housing 08/03/2021

Zoom hosted by Jonathan Klein of Building a Better Brookline.
Discussion facilitated by Joan Lancourt of Building a Better Brookline

Background:

Building a Better Brookline (BaBB) is a coalition of activists from the Housing Affordability, Environmental Sustainability, Transportation Access, Racial Equity, Public Health, and Economic Development constituencies in Brookline working together to take advantage of the synergies among and between all our issues and goals. This year, the Town of Brookline is revising its Housing Production Plan (HPP), and BaBB is focusing on making sure that all these synergies are included in the revised plan, and that the voices of all the constituencies, especially those of the Brookline residents that are usually not represented in these conversations and planning.  To this end, BaBB has been conducting a series of small Focus Groups from the different constituencies including seniors and the BIPOC communities to share what they love about living in Brookline that they don’t want to lose, and what still needs to be changed to ensure that Brookline becomes a more environmentally sustainable, racially equitable, healthier, economically developed, and welcoming community that provides housing affordability at multiple income levels to a diverse, vibrant and transit rich population.
